Companies today have access to more data than ever before, but, unless they understand what it means, its value is limited. Sweden’s largest real estate company, Vasakronan, is using Idun ProptechOS built on top of Microsoft Azure to process and analyze the massive amounts of data generated by its commercial properties. 

One of Idun’s founders Erik Wallin is presenting at BuildingSmart in Oslo, on the 5th of March. BuildingSmart is Norway's open BIM association, which is a neutral arena for innovation and digitization of the building, construction, and real estate industries. 

Most modern buildings are already packed with smart potential. Designed with sensor-rich environments, they have the capacity to run more efficiently and sustainably than ever before while responding in real-time to the needs of inhabitants. However, unlocking these benefits isn’t as straightforward as pushing a power button.

Jfokus is Sweden’s largest developer conference with an open technical collaboration among language designers, compiler writers, tool builders, runtime engineers, and VM architects. Erik will be discussing the potential of RealEstateCore and ProptechOS.

Idun Real Estate was born out of an idea sparked between a data scientist, an engineer, and a real estate company with a shared passion for making buildings smart. It’s 2016 and a Swedish real estate company has a problem. They have an abundance of smart building ideas, but are trapped within the confines of an external provider’s system. 

Idun, a new software company arrives on the smart building scene to make their mark with ProptechOS. Based on the open source semantic language RealEstateCore, ProptechOS is a Software-as-a-Service operating system that removes barriers to smart technology so that real estate owners can transform their portfolios into a platform for innovation, analysis, and optimization.

For every smart solution a property owner develops today, around 70 percent of resources are used to track down the right data and only 30 percent is left over for actually making something happen.
